Ealing house fire caused by sunlight reflection

A blaze tore through a semi-detached house in Ealing Broadway on Tuesday (2 September 2025) evening, leaving parts of the property badly damaged.

The London Fire Brigade said the fire broke out at the property on Sherborne Gardens shortly after 5.15pm. The two-storey house, which also had a loft conversion, suffered serious damage, with flames tearing through parts of the roof, loft space and first floor.

One man managed to leave the property before crews arrived and there were no reports of any injuries.

Firefighters from Acton, Southall, Park Royal and other nearby stations were mobilised and the incident was under control by 6.46pm.

Investigators believe the blaze was accidental and caused by sunlight refracting off a surface and onto curtains.
