Twyford students outperform national averages in GCSE results

Twyford Church of England High School in Acton is celebrating another year of strong GCSE results, with pupils achieving far above national averages.

According to the school, 55% of grades awarded were at 7–9, compared with 22% nationally. At grades 5–9, 88% of Twyford entries were successful against a national figure of 52%, while 95% secured at least a grade 4, well above the UK average of 67%.

Two-thirds of students also achieved a grade 5 or better across their EBacc subjects, reflecting what the school called the “exceptional progress” of recent years.

A dozen students secured eight or more grade 9s, with Florence Moreno achieving the highest possible grade in 12 subjects.

Phil Bennett, the associate headteacher, said the results demonstrated the breadth of achievement across the curriculum. “I am so proud and delighted that Twyford has continued to support students to do their very best across all subjects including a wide range of creative and practical options such as Music, Drama, Art and Graphics.”

Mr Bennett added: “It has enabled our students to access a wider range of courses post-16. I would pay particular tribute to our staff team and families, who together have worked incredibly hard to make this possible.”
