More than 100 young people who attend schools and colleges in Ealing have been recognised for their achievements at the Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards which took place last week (6 February 2025).
The prestigious event, which took place at Greenford Hall, saw 124 young people aged 11-25 win medallions and framed certificates from the Foundation along with a £300 grant for them to spend to benefit their school/college or youth group.
Four adults were also recognised for their ability to motivate young people in Ealing and received a medallion and a framed certificate.
Councillor Anthony Kelly, Ealing’s deputy mayor who gave out the awards, said: “A wonderful event recognising the achievements of our young people in Ealing. It was good to meet students, performers and sportsman from the borough. Thanks Jack Petchey Foundation for coming to Greenford.”
Councillor Josh Blacker, Cabinet Member, who also attended, said: “Ealing is full of amazing young people who deserve recognition. Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to the Jack Petchey Foundation for celebrating them.”
Among those celebrating success was 14-year-old Heli Gurjar who attends The Ellen Wilkinson School for Girls. In a statement announcing her award for dedication and hard work: “She is both an incredible individual and a great team member, always bringing forward high-quality contributions. Heli has consistently taken on roles such as volunteering in the library and helping at career events. She is a true asset to the STEM Club. Heli maintains her approachable, bubbly and infectious smiles wherever she goes, and never fails to encourage her peers, while also being incredibly proactive herself.”
Heli will spend her £300 Jack Petchey Achievement Award Grant on equipment for the school’s STEM club.
Cole Driver, 15, who attends Springhallow School won his award for exceptional talents and admirable qualities. In a statement announcing his award, Cole was recognised for “his remarkable artistic skills, he has consistently demonstrated creativity and hard work in all his endeavours. His leadership qualities shine through in group activities, where he guides his peers with patience and kindness.”
He will use his £300 Jack Petchey Achievement Award Grant on scooters for the school.
