Ealing Club documentary film gets special screening at Acton’s ActOne Cinema

A special screening of a much acclaimed documentary film about the Ealing Club is to be shown at Acton’s ActOne Cinema.

Suburban Steps To Rockland tells the story of how the Ealing Club, which was located opposite Ealing Broadway Station, played an integral part in the development of rock and blues music when it opened in March 1962.

The screening of the film on Sunday (1 December 2024) will be followed by a Q&A session with its director and producer.

The showing of the film follows the induction last month of Alexis Korner, co-founder of the Ealing Club into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame at Cleveland, Ohio.

Suburban Steps To Rockland producer Alistair Young said: “The event gave a major boost to the growing reputation of Ealing and west London as one of the world’s major sources of music innovation.”

Mr Young added: “The international music opinion leaders at the Hall of Fame were reminded of Alexis Korner’s championing in Ealing an electric guitar blues scene that shaped the Rolling Stones, The Who, Cream, Manfred Mann, Fleetwood Mac, Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Animals and many more.”
