Match report: Hanwell Town 0 v Chichester City 2

Hanwell Town started the brighter of the two teams on Saturday (29 August 2026), with Eddie Cooper firing an effort just wide of Max Evans’ post in the 2nd minute. Henry Snee and Harry Seabrook both entered the book for late challenges within the first 20 minutes.

Sam Beasant made a brilliant low save to deny Isaac Bello in the 23rd minute, but he struck back in the 39th minute, finding the bottom left corner from the edge of the box to give Chichester the lead. Lucas Pattenden saw an acrobatic effort fly over the bar from a corner, before Isaac Bello doubled his tally in the 45th minute, tapping home from close range after a defensive error to send the Geordies into the break two goals behind.

The game swung further in the Lilywhite’s favour when Harry Seabrook received his second yellow card in the 48th minute. Chichester took advantage of the extra space, with Bello firing wide, and Robert Hutchinson and Harry Bridle both seeing shots blocked.

Chris Moore made a quadruple substitution just before the hour, with substitute Seif Shaker seeing a low shot well saved by Evans, and Ollie Turner firing over the bar from outside the box. Chichester substitute Jake Lawrence almost found the net after a mazy run down the left in the 86th minute. Oke-William came close to a consolation goal for Hanwell just before full time, but Evans did well to stretch and deny him.

In his post-match interview Chris Moore accepted that the performance wasn’t great but placed the blame on himself after a health scare during the week led to preparations for the game being disrupted.

The Geordies can bounce back straight away when they travel to Berkhamsted FC in the Southern Premier South on Bank Holiday Monday 31st August, and have a Middlesex derby to look forward to in their next home game, facing Uxbridge FC on Tuesday 22nd September in a 7:45pm kick-off.
