Match Report: Farnham Town 3 v Hanwell Town 1

Hanwell Town produced a valiant 90 minute display but were undone by a second half comeback by in-form Farnham Town, who secured their sixth win in a row on Saturday (7 March 2026).

The Geordies made a bright start and found themselves in front on 13 minutes and, once again, it came from the cannon that is Elijah Oladunjoye’s long throw. The missile caused panic in the Farnham penalty area and it was unclear who had the final touch before the ball nestled in the net.

The goal woke up the home side and they pressed and probed the Geordies but the centre back trio of Jack Matton, Harry Seabrook and Dwayne Duncan were equal to everything thrown at them.

Hanwell had chances to increase their lead as Seidou Sanogo’s dipping shot rattled the crossbar, while Luke Cook saw his effort saved.

The Geordies’ defence continued to stand firm under heavy pressure from the home side at the start of the second half.

However, luck was not on Hanwell’s side as an injury in the 56th minute to on-loan Wycombe defender Jack Matton, who had been superb, resulted in a reorganisation and Farnham took advantage seconds later.

The hosts broke down the left hand side and Ryan Kinnane was first to the cross to turn home past Sam Beasant.

Farnham had the lead 20 minutes from time and it was two former Hanwell players who combined as Mat Mackenzie fed Sam Evans at the near post to make it 2-1. Evans cupped his ears towards the Geordies fans who had given him some good hearted banter.

Hanwell pushed forward and nearly had an equaliser in stoppage time but Michael Eacott made an astonishing save to deny Henry Snee.

Farnham made the game safe in the dying seconds as Adam Liddle broke free, following what appeared to be a foul, with Hanwell pushing bodies forward to grab a third and seal condemn Chris Moore’s side to defeat.

It was a loss, though, that had plenty of positives with the Geordies showing their qualities on and off the ball. Hanwell are on the road again on Tuesday night as they make the short trip to Berkhamsted.
