On 7 May 2026, residents in the Southall Green ward will vote to choose who represents them at Ealing Council.
EALING.NEWS has asked all candidates standing to become a councillor, 7 questions about who they are, what they hope to deliver and why they want residents to vote for them.
Here’s what Jatinder Rajput, standing for Ealing Community Independents in Southall Green, has to say:
Tell us a bit about yourself, your priorities for the ward and why you want to be councillor for Southall Green?
I’m not a career politician, and that’s my strength. I come from a background in creative leadership and problem-solving, where results matter more than rhetoric. I’m used to listening, cutting through noise and getting things done.
My priorities for Southall Green are safer streets, cleaner spaces and real support for local families and businesses. I’m standing because this community deserves someone grounded, practical and focused on action, not politics.
What motivates you?
Helping people, fixing what isn’t working and improving what can be better. I’m motivated by progress, and smiles, not point-scoring.
What is your own personal connection to Southall Green or any other part of the borough?
Southall is part of my DNA. I’ve built real connections here and understand the community beyond headlines or statistics. That lived experience matters.
What do you consider to be your 3 top political, work or personal achievements and what impact have they had?
Leading complex projects across international teams, delivering under pressure and driving results.
Mentoring people and helping them grow in confidence and ability.
Improving systems to make them more efficient and user-focused.
The impact is always tangible, things work better, people feel supported and outcomes improve.
What do you consider to be the top 3 challenges Southall Green faces and how will you as a councillor address them?
Safety and anti-social behaviour, residents deserve to feel secure.
Cleanliness and infrastructure, the basics must be in place and reliable, just how it was when I was growing up here.
I’ll approach these with a practical mindset – focused on delivery, accountability and being present in the community, not just during elections.
What do you love about Southall Green and the borough of Ealing?
What I love about Southall Green is its soul, its history, its people. I played here as a child and I’ve watched it change over time, from its peak to where we are today. There’s pride here, but also untold stories. If these walls could talk, they wouldn’t be quiet, they’d be asking for real change.
How accessible will you be to Southall Green residents and how can they get in contact with you now and if elected how will you ensure you are accessible to them in the future?
Very accessible. I’m not here to disappear behind titles or processes.
Right now, people can reach me directly via email: ecisouthall@gmail.com and I will respond. If elected, I’ll hold regular surgeries, stay active online and be out in the community consistently.
Being accessible isn’t a promise, it’s how I work.
