A fire at a house in multiple occupation (HMO) on Northfield Avenue in West Ealing left two people in hospital on Tuesday (14 April 2026) afternoon.
Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to the end-of-terrace property, where part of the first floor was damaged by flames. The London Ambulance Service treated two occupants at the scene before taking them to hospital.
The London Fire Brigade said it received the first of four emergency calls at 2.04pm, with crews from Southall, Chiswick and Heston fire stations dispatched. The blaze was brought under control within half an hour and fully extinguished by 2.31pm.
Investigators believe the fire was accidental, caused by a lamp placed too close to flammable materials.
Firefighters are reminding of the risks associated with open flames. Candles, incense and oil burners should never be left unattended and must be kept away from combustible items such as curtains, papers and furniture, the brigade said, adding that naked flames should always be kept out of reach of children and pets.
