More than 200 locals gathered at Peabody’s Southall Day Centre for a Diwali celebration earlier this month (6 November 2025) that brought together neighbours, families, and friends for an afternoon of music, dance, and food.
The event featured performances throughout the afternoon, including a routine by Let’s Go Southall that encouraged many attendees to join in. Organisers said the celebration aimed to provide an inclusive space for residents of all ages to take part in the festivities.
Guests were served tea and traditional snacks before a vegetarian lunch. The centre also recognised 13 volunteers for their support in delivering activities throughout the year.
Sukh Sandher, manager of the Southall Day Centre, said the annual event continued to play an important role in the community. He said: “The Diwali event is always one of the highlights of our year, and it was wonderful to see the hall filled with people celebrating and connecting. Diwali holds special importance for many in our Asian community, and we are proud to support an event that honours tradition and brings people together.”
He added: “Our day centre gives people a welcoming place to socialise, take part in activities and exercise, and look after their mental and physical wellbeing. Events like this show how much the centre means to the people who use it.”
