A long-serving volunteer at Meadow House Hospice in Southall has received the Order of Mercy in recognition of her years of voluntary service.
Patricia Chapman was presented with the award at a ceremony at Haberdashers’ Hall in the City of London earlier this month (3 July 2026), attended by HRH Princess Katerina of Yugoslavia and other guests.
The Order of Mercy is awarded for voluntary service by the League of Mercy, a charity which traces its origins back to 1899, when it was founded to support and recognise voluntary work in hospitals and the community.
Lord Lingfield, president of the League of Mercy, said: “Ms Chapman is a marvellous example of someone whose longstanding and voluntary dedication to the service and welfare of others is remarkable and we were delighted to be able to make this well-deserved award to her.”
Meadow House Hospice provides specialist palliative and end-of-life care for people with life-limiting illnesses and support for their families at Ealing Hospital.
