Local MP Deirdre Costigan and Ealing mayor visit Southall foodbank

The Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Faduma Mohamed, and Ealing Southall MP Deirdre Costigan visited the borough’s busiest foodbank on Thursday (17 September 2026).

Councillor Mohamed and Ms Costigan met staff, volunteers and people using the Ealing Foodbank service at St Anselm’s RC Church in Southall.

The foodbank, part of the Trussell Trust network, provides three days of nutritionally balanced emergency food to people facing a crisis who have been referred to it.

Ealing Foodbank, which was set-up in 2013, now operates eight centres across the borough, providing support six days a week.

Councillor Mohamed and Ms Costigan also met representatives from Crosslight Debt Advice and Ealing Law Centre, which work alongside the foodbank to support residents experiencing financial and housing problems.

Emma Leahy, local organiser at Ealing Foodbank, told EALING.NEWS: “Ealing Foodbank’s support goes beyond providing emergency food parcels. The charity also funds debt advisers and legal housing experts, helping clients tackle the underlying issues behind their crisis and take steps towards a more secure future.”
