Gunnersbury gets £14,000 donation to improve park

The Friends of Gunnersbury Park & Museum have donated £14,000 to help fund renovations for the 72-acre Grade II listed park at Gunnersbury Park & Museum.

The park, once the home of banker Nathan de Rothschild, is jointly owned by Hounslow Council and Ealing Council.

The money given will be used to renovate two areas of the park –  the Italian Gardens which have been damaged by the box tree moth and box blight and the Hedgerow Project which will plant new hedgerows to encourage new habitats to the park.

David G Bowler, CEO Gunnersbury Trust said: “We’re thrilled to receive this grant from our long-term supporters, the Friends of Gunnersbury Park. The funds will allow us to restore our historic Italian Garden, where the layout existed by 1818, back to its former glory in time for the warmer months.”

Mr Bowler added: “We can also increase the number of hedgerows in the park to help old and new habitants thrive. Without vital funds like these, we simply would not be able to maintain Gunnerburys Park & Museum for the community.”
