North Acton residents and businesses are facing additional traffic disruption and inconvenience after Virgin Media began emergency roadworks on Tuesday morning (14 July 2026), adding to utility works already under way in the area and due to continue until September 2026.
The latest roadworks have now spread congestion beyond Victoria Road, with traffic now backing up along Old Oak Lane outside The Collective and up to Willesden Junction as well as the nearby roundabout leading to Old Oak Common Lane. The bus stop outside The Collective has also been taken out of service while the work is carried out, causing further disruption for passengers.
The new roadworks come just days after EALING.NEWS reported that electricity upgrade works on Victoria Road are set to continue until September 2026, with residents already voicing frustration over lengthy delays, congestion and safety concerns.
One resident told EALING.NEWS: “This is getting so frustrating. Traffic has been backing up on Old Oak Lane from Harlesden down to The Collective, and once you get past these works, you then hit the Victoria Road roadworks. It’s noisy and causing so much disruption for residents and anyone travelling through the area.”
Roadworks information shows Virgin Media has a permit for the work until 22 July 2026, although the company said it may complete the project earlier.
A Virgin Media spokesperson told EALING.NEWS: “Our engineers responded quickly to an internet outage in Old Oak Lane area this morning, and services have now been fully restored for impacted customers.
“To further strengthen the resilience of the local network, some additional engineering work is required. Our teams will complete this work as quickly as possible, and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause local residents.”
