Ealing Council sends patrols to tackle fly-tipping

Ealing Council has said it has deployed uniformed patrol officers across the borough in a renewed push to tackle persistent fly-tipping, as part of a wider crackdown on illegal waste dumping.

The patrols, carried out by contracted enforcement service Parkguard, will focus on known hotspot locations, with officers tasked with gathering evidence, issuing fines and working alongside CCTV teams to identify offenders.

The move builds on the council’s “This is our home, not a tip” campaign, which has already seen tougher penalties introduced and increased surveillance across affected areas.

Since fines were raised from £400 to £1,000 in May 2025, more than 3,000 penalty notices have been issued.

Figures released by the Labour-run council show officers have already patrolled more than 40 locations and visited over 20 businesses suspected of breaching waste disposal rules, with several facing enforcement action. Additional CCTV cameras installed at key sites have also captured more than 160 fly-tipping incidents.

Ealing Council said its in-house waste and environmental services company, Greener Ealing Ltd, collects 98% of reported fly-tips within two working days, adding that prevention remains key to tackling fly-tipping.

Leader of Ealing Council, Councillor Peter Mason said: “We promised to take tougher action against fly-tipping, and these new patrols show we mean it. People who dump waste illegally force the whole community to pick up the cost.

“With higher fines, more officers on the ground and better use of CCTV, we are taking firm action to protect our borough and keep our streets clean.”
