Ealing Assembly Member Bassam Mahfouz backs new express bus proposal

Transport for London has opened a consultation on a proposed new Superloop express bus route linking Ealing with Brent Cross and Hendon — and local London Assembly Member for Ealing and Hillingdon Bassam Mahfouz is calling on commuters to back the plan.

The service, to be known as SL13, would run between Hendon War Memorial and Ealing Broadway, with stops at Brent Cross and Neasden. Designed as part TfL’s expanding Superloop network, the route would serve a limited number of key stops, including town centres and rail interchanges, to offer quicker and more reliable journeys across northwest London.

As part of the proposals, the existing E7 route would also be extended from Haven Green to Ealing Common, providing extra local connections.

Mr Mahfouz welcomed the plans and highlighted the success of the Superloop so far.

He said: “The Super Loop has already transformed bus journeys across West London with the SL8 having seen an 18% increase of passengers in its first year. Transport for London are now consulting on another much-needed express route to connect Ealing with Brent Cross and Hendon.”

Mr Mahfouz urged residents to show their support during the consultation: “I’m urging commuters to back this bus revolution and get on board by showing their support for the proposals. It will deliver faster, more efficient journeys along an important corridor with accessible and affordable buses. Let’s make it lucky number 13 for the borough.”

He is also campaigning for a further Superloop service running parallel to the existing 65 route between Ealing Broadway and Kingston-upon-Thames.

TfL’s consultation on the SL13 is now open to the public and can be viewed here.
