England footballer Chloe Kelly, who grew up in Hanwell, has been awarded an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours, just three months after being awarded the Freedom of the Borough of Ealing.
Kelly, a former pupil of Elthorne Park High School, secured her place in England football history when she scored the winning goal in the Lionesses’ Euro 2022 final victory over Germany at Wembley.
She was recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours list for her services to football.
The King’s honour comes after Kelly collected the Freedom of the Borough of Ealing in March at a ceremony at Gunnersbury Park Museum.
The Freedom of the Borough, the highest civic honour awarded by Ealing Council, recognised her role in England’s recent tournament successes and the pride she has brought to the borough.
