The final phases of the Green Man Lane regeneration in West Ealing are set to move forward after Ealing Council’s cabinet approved Higgins Partnerships as the contractor for the remaining work, replacing Rydon, which said it was not in a position to undertake phases that had yet to start.
The approval made on on Wednesday (9 September) will now pave the way for work to resume on the long-running regeneration scheme.
Higgins will work with housing association A2Dominion on the remaining development, which the council said is expected to provide around 400 new homes.
Construction is set to start in late 2026 or early 2027.
The change follows disruption after REAL London & South East, which had been delivering parts of the regeneration, went into administration in 2023. Rydon stepped in as guarantor to complete work already underway but subsequently told the council it would not undertake phases which had yet to start.
A2Dominion then entered discussions with Higgins to replace Rydon for the remaining phases. Council officers carried out financial and commercial checks and said they were satisfied Higgins had the financial capacity and expertise to complete the work.
The regeneration has already delivered more than 500 homes, alongside a community centre, café and a new building for St John’s Primary School.
Ealing Council leader Councillor Peter Mason said: “Building genuinely affordable homes for local people is one of our top priorities, and completing this final phase at Green Man Lane will help hundreds more local families move into new, safe, energy-efficient homes.Green Man Lane has already seen significant improvements with new homes, community facilities and a new school.”
Higgins and A2Dominion previously worked together on Hanwell Square in West Ealing, which delivered 360 mixed-tenure homes.
