New Indian restaurant opens in Ealing

The Crossing Indian Bistro has opened in Ealing Broadway, offering a menu inspired by chef and founder Ankur Chakraborty’s childhood train journeys across India.

The restaurant, at 5-6 The Greens, welcomed its first customers on Wednesday (14 October 2026) and is offering 50% off food during its soft launch.

The premises were previously occupied by Carluccio’s, which closed in 2020, followed by Italian restaurant and cocktail bar Meadow in 2021. China Bistro subsequently took over, opening its first UK restaurant there in Ocrober 2025 and serving Indo-Chinese food.

The Crossing opened its first UK restaurant in Chapel Allerton, Leeds, in August 2026. The group, which started in Dubai, also has restaurants in Nice and at the Galeries Lafayette department store in Paris.

The Ealing menu draws on the different regional dishes Mr Chakraborty encountered while travelling across India by train with his father.

Dishes include Railway Lamb Curry, made with slow-braised lamb, Gunpowder Prawns with southern Indian spices, and a Crossing Chaat Bowl featuring lentil dumplings, chickpeas and chutneys.

Other options include Kerala Fried Chicken, Alleppey Prawn Curry and Madras Mutton Pepper Fry with Idli.

Mr Chakraborty said: “Every dish on our menu tells a different story about the traditions and flavours of India.”
