An Ofsted inspection of Learn Ealing, Ealing Council’s adult and community learning service, has seen inspectors giving it top grades in a number of areas including a rating of ‘outstanding’ for ‘behaviour and attitudes’ and ‘personal development’.
The borough service, which was inspected between 5 and 7 February 2025, also was rated ‘good’ for ‘leadership and management’, ‘adult learning programmes’ and ‘quality of education’.
Overall the inspectors, who observed classes and spoke to learners and tutors, gave Learn Ealing and overall rating of ‘good’ which it maintained from its previous 2020 inspection.
Learn Ealing provides training at over 25 centres across the borough including schools and libraries and has helped and supported many thousands of residents across the borough. In 2023/24 1,328 residents completed 4,074 qualifications and training programmes.

In its report, Ofsted highlighted a number of areas where it says Learn Ealing performs well. It said: “Learners develop new knowledge and skills quickly, make new friends and become more confident. For example, in Italian lessons, learners gain the confidence to speak to their peers and their tutor. They describe their weekends and the food they have eaten accurately, using the correct tense and pronunciation.
“Teachers are well qualified and enthusiastic about the subjects that they teach. In most cases, they use their subject knowledge well to teach interesting and effective lessons.”
Councillor Kamaljit Nagpal, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for decent living incomes said: “It’s great to hear that the inspectors found that learners turn up to classes feeling empowered and ready to learn, with a very positive attitude towards their studies. Learn Ealing’s success is a testament to the dedication and hard work of its leaders, teachers, and learners.”
Ealing Council leader, Councillor Peter Mason commented: “This Ofsted rating reflects our commitment to providing a high-quality education service for local people. Every day, our brilliant Learn Ealing team is helping local people get the skills they need to find good and well-paid jobs.”
