A Greenford primary school has been shortlisted for two of the top honours at this year’s National Schools Award, in recognition of its academic excellence and commitment to innovation, inclusion and community.
Stanhope Primary is in the running for Leadership Team of the Year – with only three schools nationwide making the shortlist – and School of the Year, where five schools are competing. Winners will be announced at a ceremony at the House of Lords in December.
Headteacher Hannah Widdison, speaking about the leadership team nomination, said: “I am so incredibly proud of our wonderful leadership team – they are dynamic, forward-thinking, passionate and lead the school with kindness and warmth on a daily basis. It is a pleasure for us to lead and serve our wonderful community, we are gifted with such ambitious, supportive and engaged parents and carers and the most delightful children you could ask for.”
On the School of the Year recognition, Ms Widdison added: “Every single day at Stanhope, I get to witness our vision springing to life in the most extraordinary ways – in the curiosity of our pupils, the dedication of our staff, the commitment of our governors and the unwavering support of our families. Being shortlisted is a huge celebration of the amazing school that Stanhope is.”
Deputy headteacher Kat Pietruszka said the nominations reflected the school’s ethos: “To be nominated for both Leadership Team and School of the Year is an incredible honour, but for us, the true reward is seeing our pupils flourish. Everything we do is about inspiring every child to believe in themselves, embrace their uniqueness, and achieve their fullest potential. Their success is the heart of our leadership, and the soul of our school.”
