Ealing Central and Acton MP Dr Rupa Huq has begun recruiting for a new parliamentary assistant, following the departure of one of her staff to the private sector.
The Labour MP, who has represented the constituency since 2015, said she was looking for an “all-rounder” capable of handling both research at Westminster and casework locally.
Speaking to Ealing News, Dr Huq said: “Come work with me! After one of our bright young things at Team Huq been snapped up by the private sector we have a vacancy for an all-rounder to do a mix of casework (helping resolve constituents problems be they benefits/ housing/ immigration) and research (policy issues/ speech input).”
Dr Huq added: “The person should be hardworking and good at taking initiative. You get to work in both the Mother of Parliaments (ie UK Parliament) and Queen of the suburbs (ie Ealing).”
The permanent, full-time role is based in London and will be paid according to IPSA’s administrative pay scales.
The successful candidate will be expected to research legislation, draft speeches, articles and parliamentary questions, and prepare briefings to support Huq’s parliamentary work. They will also monitor political developments and manage high volumes of correspondence from constituents.
Casework duties include meeting residents face-to-face or by phone to resolve issues relating to housing, immigration and benefits, as well as attending surgeries and following up with government departments and local authorities.
The post may involve occasional evening or weekend work and some travel. Knowledge of the Ealing Central and Acton constituency is described as a distinct advantage.
Applications close at 5pm on 3 October 2025, with interviews scheduled for 10 October 2025. To find out more and apply, click here.
