A 61-year-old man from Southall has been convicted following a Metropolitan Police investigation that uncovered one of the largest seizures of the drug GBL in London.
Ahoor Ramabark Fathi, of Willowbrook Road, pleaded guilty at Isleworth Crown Court to possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs, possession of a firearm and ammunition, and possession of criminal property.
The case began after Greater Manchester Police passed intelligence to the Met’s Specialist Crime Unit indicating that large quantities of GBL were being transported from Manchester to London, alongside the movement of crystal meth in the opposite direction. Detectives analysed months of phone data to establish Fathi’s involvement.
Officers linked him to three addresses – two in Ealing and one in Southall – believed to be used to store drugs and cash. He was arrested on 18 March 2026 after police attended one of the properties.
A search of a storage container rented by Fathi uncovered 188 boxes containing a total of 2,256 litres of GBL. Officers also recovered £100,000 in cash, 456g of crystal meth, ammunition and a firearm from a property in Ealing.
GBL is associated with serious health risks including addiction, memory loss and overdose, and has been linked to spiking and the chemsex scene.
Detective Inspector Mark Gavin, who led the investigation, said: “Controlled drugs continue to have a devastating impact on communities across London, driving harm, exploitation and wider criminality. This is one of the largest discoveries of GBL in London and we are pleased that we have halted its distribution throughout the city.
He added: “The misuse of GBL and crystal meth tend to be linked to serious offences. We know that drug-related offences often pose a barrier for victims, resulting in crimes going underreported.”
Fathi is due to be sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court on 23 July.
