Conservatives set out Ealing Council election priorities

Ealing Conservatives have published their local election plan ahead of the borough elections next month (7 May 2026), outlining pledges on crime, street cleaning, housing and leisure facilities.

Ealing Council, which has been run by Labour since 2010, has 56 Labour councillors, alongside eight Liberal Democrats, four Conservatives and two independents.

The Conservatives, which previously ran Ealing Council from 2006 to 2010, said: “After 16 years of failure, the Labour-run Ealing Council is tired and out of ideas. It is time for change. The Ealing Conservatives are that change. We want an Ealing which is business-friendly, has safe streets for all residents, ends the war on motorists, and is a place which we can all be proud of.”

The Conservatives claim their “Our Plan 2026” programme is “fully costed” and would deliver a “safer, cleaner and more prosperous borough” if the party wins control of Ealing Council.

Among the proposals is a tougher approach to crime and anti-social behaviour, including funding 10 additional council-backed police officers, deploying mobile CCTV cameras and upgrading lighting at 40 hotspot locations. The party says the measures would aim to reduce anti-social behaviour reports by 25 per cent over a council term.

On street cleaning, the Conservatives say they would introduce borough-wide fortnightly cleaning rounds by December 2026, guarantee the removal of reported fly-tips within 48 hours and hold free community skip days. The party says this would help cut fly-tipping incidents by 40 per cent.

The plan also includes a pledge to begin construction of a new Gurnell swimming pool by December 2026, alongside proposals for a 10-officer HMO enforcement taskforce and inspections of all licensed HMOs by the end of 2027.

Other measures include a pilot “free after 3pm” parking offer, reinstating Stop and Shop bays, resisting high-rise developments where possible and offering a fast-track planning service for affordable family housing applications.
