Police target Acton drug and ASB issues

Metropolitan Police have stepped up enforcement activity around Denehurst Gardens in Acton following residents reporting drug dealing and anti-social behaviour in the area.

Locals had raised concerns about ongoing issues in the area, according to Police Sergeant George Zealey of the North and South Acton Safer Neighbourhood Team, with officers now increasing patrols at identified hotspots, including land near a nearby hotel. Both uniformed and plain-clothes officers have been deployed, with additional support from emergency response teams when required.

Five Community Protection Warnings were issued last week after stop-and-search operations, marking the first stage of what Sergeant Zealey described as a “tiered enforcement approach” to tackling persistent offending.

Work is also under way with the hotel’s management company to improve security, including restricting access to a rear car park and reviewing safety measures. Ealing Council has removed an abandoned vehicle from the site, which officers said had been attracting unwanted activity.

Sergeant Zealey said a multi-agency meeting involving council teams and local partners had agreed further steps, including engagement with the landlord.

Alongside enforcement, officers are referring individuals to a Metropolitan Police drug intervention programme aimed at reducing repeat offending. Residents are being urged to continue reporting incidents.

Police are urging anyone who witnesses suspicious behaviour, or has information that could help, to report it by calling 101, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. In an emergency, people should call 999.
