Metropolitan Police have increased patrols in North Acton following a series of burglaries targeting homes near North Acton Playing Fields.
Sarah Kearney, a police community support officer (PCSO) with the North Acton Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said: “We’ve received reports of recent burglaries around North Acton Playing Fields, particularly targeting homes that appear empty and in darkness during the evening hours.”
PCSO Kearney offered the following advice to help secure homes: “Always lock doors and windows, even when you’re at home. Use deadbolts and window locks where possible. Consider installing a security alarm or smart doorbell camera.”
She added: “Use timer switches to turn lights on and off when you’re out. Leave a radio or TV on at low volume to give the impression someone is home. Avoid leaving curtains fully closed during the day—it can signal no one is inside.”
PCSO Kearney continued: “Let trusted neighbours know if you’re going away. Join or follow your local Neighbourhood Watch group. Report suspicious activity immediately to police via 101 or 999 in emergencies.”
Reassuring residents, she said officers from the Safer Neighbourhoods Team will be out and about: “Our officers are increasing patrols in the area and are available to offer advice and reassurance. If you see us out and about, please feel free to speak with us.”
