Acton man charged over Ritz Christmas protest

A 26-year-old man from Acton has been charged after activists allegedly dumped horse manure beside the Christmas tree at The Ritz London as part of a protest about wealth inequality.

Tjalle Rumley, of Hereford Road, Acton, is one of four members of campaign group Take Back Power charged with criminal damage following the incident at the luxury Piccadilly hotel on 3 December 2025.

He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 29 April 2026 alongside Toby Ellwood, 21, of Newport Gardens, Leeds.

Two other defendants, Ellen Redwood-Brown, 23, of Balmoral Road, Bristol, and Tom Barber, 66, of St Andrews Road, Nottingham, are scheduled to appear at the same court on 20 April 2026.
