Ealing community champions to get free access to leisure facilities

Community groups in Ealing are being invited to apply for free access to local leisure centres as part of a new initiative designed to support grassroots projects making a difference in the borough.

Applications are now open for the Community Champions initiative, created by Everyone Active which manages local leisure centres in partnership with Ealing Council. The scheme aims to strengthen communities by supporting projects that address local needs and improve lives.

Everyone Active is calling on “local changemakers” to come forward, with organisers particularly encouraging those involved in promoting health and wellbeing, mentoring, supporting inclusivity or leading environmental and cultural projects. Both charitable as well as smaller initiatives are eligible to apply.

Successful applicants will receive free access to a range of facilities including pool time, studio space, meeting rooms and equipment – to help deliver their work. Their stories will also be highlighted by Everyone Active to help promote wider community involvement.

Champions chosen through the scheme will also be in the running for the new Champions Awards, scheduled for autumn 2025, which will celebrate the most inspiring individuals and initiatives.

Phil Edwards, Everyone Active’s contract manager, said: “We are hugely excited to launch the Community Champions scheme, which we hope will make a real difference in Ealing. We want to highlight the work of everyday heroes who are changing people’s lives and inspiring others to make a positive impact in their communities.”

Applications close on 12 June 2025 and can be submitted via a dedicated website: www.ea-champions.com.
