Lights, Camera, Culture: Ealing Council and Bradford City join forces

Ealing Council is calling on young creatives aged 18-25 from across the borough to apply for an opportunity this summer to collaborate with Bradford 2025, the UK’s City of Culture.

The Bradford Ealing Creative Exchange, supported by Arts Council England, will connect eight young people from Ealing with Bradford’s Young Creatives programme. Participants will travel to Bradford to explore its year-long cultural celebration, then host Bradford creatives in Ealing later this year during the New Gen Festival.

All travel, accommodation and meals during the Bradford trip will be covered. In addition, each successful applicant will receive a payment of £672 for their involvement across the eight days of work that is anticipated for the programme.

Bradford 2025 is set to be one of the biggest arts festivals in the world, with over 1,000 events covering music, film, theatre, visual arts, street art, photography and more. Ealing participants will visit cultural landmarks including the National Science & Media Museum, Bronte Parsonage, and Bradford Museums & Galleries and meet the UNESCO City of Film team.

In return, Ealing will host exchange participants during the New Gen Festival, working with local partners including Pitzhanger Manor and Gallery, Gunnersbury Park Museum, Ealing Film Festival and the University of West London. The exchange also includes an online programme with artist talks and development sessions.

Councillor Blerina Hashani, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for thriving communities, said: “The Bradford Ealing Creative Exchange is a unique opportunity for young people in Ealing to gain invaluable experience during this exciting cultural year for Bradford. This initiative supports our cultural manifesto action plan, and our aim to develop new collaborations and expand opportunities for our young residents to participate in the creative industries.”
