Acton’s ActOne’s January 2025 programming is packed with great films and community events.
Showing from Friday the 3rd of January 2025 is the romantic dramedy We Live in Time with mesmerising lead duo Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh. For horror fans, Robert Eggers’ gothic tale of obsession with an all-star cast, Nosferatu.
The highly-anticipated re-release of the Academy Award-winning masterpiece, Spirited Away, continues – showing in original Japanese with English subtitles and a dubbed version.
Joining the programme for four days will be a documentary Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat, a breathtaking musical journey depicting the rise and fall of the first Premier of Congo.
From Friday the 10th of January, a brilliant comedy/drama A Real Pain, follows mismatched cousins David (Jesse Eisenberg) and Benji (phenomenal Kieran Culkin) who reunite for a tour through Poland to honour their beloved grandmother. The historical drama Nickel Boys chronicles the powerful friendship between two young Black teenagers navigating the harrowing trials of a reform school in Florida together.
From Sunday 12 January, you can look forward to the sixtieth-anniversary restoration of a radical and rarely-seen classic, Soy Cuba.

Monthly Board Games Night is on Wednesday, 8 January from 6 pm. All enthusiasts and levels are welcome, free of charge.
Saturday, 11 January at 8:00 pm we welcome a live jazz duo, Filippo Dall’Asta and Mary Jane Lowe, for an evening of unforgettable music, blending virtuosic guitar with enchanting vocals to celebrate jazz’s timeless allure. £5 tickets live at the lounge.
On Wednesday, 15 January at 6 pm, attend the monthly short film night, Sound & Vision. Tickets are only £7 for short films of all genres shown on a big screen, followed by meet and greet and networking drinks at the lounge afterwards.
Royal Ballet & Opera presents another LIVE broadcast performance – this time, Offenbach’s dream-like opera, The Tales of Hoffmann – on Wednesday 15 January at 6:45 pm.
Friday, 17 January at 7:30 pm offers a brilliant Untitled Comedy, founded and moderated by Ryan Denham: ten stand-up comedians, one prize for the audience member. Entry is free, donations are welcome.
Friday, 24 January at 11 am, we present a baby-friendly screening of a selection of ten short films curated by the London Short Film Festival, London Lives.
On Thursday 30 January, we host our popular free Open Mic Night. Sign up from 7:30, performances start at 8 o’clock on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be acoustic performances, comedy, poetry, magic, spoken word and more.
Our weekly accessible screenings are Carers & Babies Club Tuesdays, Hard of Hearing closed-captioned screening Wednesdays and Relaxed Screening Thursdays.
