Sixty-six new specialist places for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are to be created at two Ealing schools following approval of £2.25 million in funding.
Ealing Council’s cabinet approved the plans earlier this month (9 July 2026), with 36 places at Acton Gardens Primary School in South Acton, where the council said around £1.25 million will be invested, and 30 at Brentside High School in Hanwell, which will receive £1 million.
The two mainstream schools will have dedicated learning spaces and specialist facilities, with places starting to become available from September 2026.
Councillor Blerina Hashani, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for a fairer start, said: “By creating more specialist places in local schools, we can help children and young people access the support they need closer to home, while remaining connected to their local community.”
Harsha Patel, headteacher at Acton Gardens Primary School, said the new provision would allow the school to support more pupils with SEND, while Charlotte Hames, headteacher at Brentside High School, said the investment would enable pupils to receive specialist support while remaining involved in wider school life.
