An Ealing Hospital clinician has used most of his annual leave to follow England across North America in the hope of finally seeing the national team lift the World Cup.
Kunal Sapat, a physician associate at the London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust run hospital, has travelled more than 7,000km to watch England and already has tickets for every remaining match, including the final if Gareth Southgate’s side make it.
It is the fourth World Cup Mr Sapat has attended, having previously followed England in South Africa, Russia and Qatar.
Mr Sapat, who has not missed an England match since 2016, said the atmosphere had become better with every round of the tournament.
He said one of the highlights had been the welcome from supporters in Mexico City before and after England’s victory over Mexico at the Azteca Stadium.
Mr Sapat believes England can overcome Norway before beating Argentina to reach the final, where he is predicting a meeting with Spain.
