The headteacher of a Greenford primary school has won a national teaching award after being recognised as one of the country’s leading school leaders.
Hannah Widdison, headteacher of Stanhope Primary School, has been named a Silver Winner in the Headteacher of the Year in a Primary School category at the Pearson National Teaching Awards.
The award places her among a select group of educators recognised nationally and means she will now go forward for consideration for a Gold Award, with the national winners due to be announced in November 2026
Ms Widdison joined Stanhope Primary School as headteacher in 2022. During her time at the Greenford school, Stanhope has been recognised as an Inclusion Quality Mark Centre of Excellence, while its leadership team was named Leadership Team of the Year at the National Schools Awards in 2025. The school also received recognition from Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson for the performance of disadvantaged pupils in Key Stage 2 assessments.
Ms Widdison said: “It is an absolute privilege to serve the Stanhope community. I feel incredibly fortunate to work alongside such dedicated staff, supportive families and, most importantly, our wonderful children, who inspire me every day with their ambition, kindness, conduct and determination.
“Stanhope is a very special school community and a powerful example of what can be achieved when everyone works together with a shared belief in children and their potential.”
Ross Broadbent, chair of governors at Stanhope Primary School, said: “Hannah Widdison is an exceptional headteacher whose leadership of Stanhope Primary School stands as a genuinely outstanding example of what is possible when vision, values and relentless commitment to children come together.”
Beyond her role at Stanhope, Ms Widdison is AI Strategy Lead for the Ealing Learning Partnership, helping schools across the borough develop ethical approaches to artificial intelligence in education.
