Nearly three years after pupils first moved in, the junior school building at Notting Hill & Ealing High School has been recognised with a top architecture award.
The school was among the winners in this year’s regional awards organised by the Royal Institute of British Architects.
The new building welcomed pupils in autumn 2023 before being formally inaugurated in February 2024 by author and TV presenter Konnie Huq.
Designed by architects Hawkins\Brown, the redevelopment replaced older junior school facilities and created new classrooms, a library, specialist teaching rooms and outdoor learning areas.
The award follows another design accolade for the school last year from New London Architecture.
Kate Bevan, head of junior school at Notting Hill & Ealing High School, said staff wanted the school to feel calm, welcoming and practical for children using it every day.
She said: “The building has transformed how our pupils learn and interact, with spaces that encourage collaboration, independence and hands-on discovery both inside and outdoors.”
