A repeat shoplifter has been arrested by police officers from the Ealing Broadway Safer Neighbourhood Team after being spotted outside a supermarket in central Ealing.
Police said officers saw the offender attempting to board a bus outside Sainsbury’s Local in Ealing Broadway on Thursday (14 May 2026).
According to the Metropolitan Police, the individual was arrested for failing to appear in court.
The offender will also be issued with a Community Protection Notice, which includes conditions banning behaviour that creates a “hostile and unsafe environment” for retail staff and prohibiting further retail theft offences.
PCSO Timothy Tuft, from the Ealing Broadway Ward Safer Neighbourhood Team, described the arrest as “a great result for Ealing Broadway”.
In a post shared on the Met Engage platform, he said the notice would help tackle repeat offending and improve safety for shop workers and businesses in the town centre.
Liberal Democrat Councillor for Ealing Broadway Adam Keenan told EALING.NEWS: “Liberal Democrats say that serial shoplifters are the scourge of our high street. It is great to see the hard work of our Safer Neighbourhood police team pay off.”
Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspicious behaviour. In an emergency, people should call 999, while non-emergency concerns can be reported via 101 or through the Metropolitan Police’s website.
