Here’s what Lakhbir Singh, standing for Ealing Liberal Democrats in Ealing Common, has to say:
Tell us a bit about yourself, your priorities for the ward and why you want to be councillor for Ealing Common?
I had been councillor for 12 years at Luton BC and been Mayor of Luton in 2008-09. Moved to Ealing in 2012 and been heavily involved in the local community, charities and residents associations. My priorities for Ealing Common are to tackle fly-tipping, help make Ealing cleaner, greener and peaceful to live.
What motivates you?
Help resolve residents issues/problems. It gives me intrinsic rewards when I am able to help people. Community is at my heart.
What is your own personal connection to either Ealing Common or any other part of the borough?
I live in the area and walk the ward everyday.
What do you consider to be your 3 top political, work or personal achievements and what impact have they had?
As councillor in Luton I helped to establish the community centre in my ward that was long standing demand/need of my residents. Personally I became 1st citizen (Mayor) of Luton.
What do you consider to be the top 3 challenges Ealing Common faces and how will you as a councillor address them?
I like see cleaner, greener and safer Ealing Common by walking the ward regularly and reporting any defects or fly-tippings on regular basis. Working closely with Met Police to reduce crime in EC/Ealing.
What do you love about Ealing Common and the borough of Ealing?
I love the parks and abundance of trees we have in Ealing. I also like the diversity of the communities that live in here.
How accessible will you be to Ealing Common residents and how can they get in contact with you now and if elected how will you ensure you are accessible to them in the future?
I will participate and hold monthly surgeries. Walk my ward regularly, will always be available on my mobile phone and email. I will also attend residents meetings, ward police panels and other activities taking place in my ward.
