A new exhibition by Phoebe Collings-James is set to open in Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery next week, bringing new sculpture and ceramic work to Ealing.
Running from 1 April to 14 June 2026, a rose, a bridge, a house will feature more than 17 works by Ms Collings-James, many of which are being shown in the UK for the first time. The exhibition will span the main galleries and the Breakfast Room of Sir John Soane’s former home.
Ms Collings-James, a Jamaican British artist whose work has been exhibited internationally, including in Berlin and New York, presents a series of human-scale sculptures, armour pieces and clay paintings. Her practice explores themes of language, emotion and violence, drawing on influences such as cuneiform tablets, Ashanti folklore and sound design.
Works from her ongoing Infidels series will be on display, using Caribbean coiling techniques to create elongated forms with open mouths, suggesting expressions of resistance, release or joy. Other pieces include Mouthpiece for Terry I and II, referencing the late American artist and musician Terry Adkins, and a selection from her Clay Paintings series.
Ms Phoebe Collings-James said: “It’s exciting for this series of Infidels and clay paintings to come home to London.”
