Firefighters tackle Southall recycling blaze

Eight fire engines and about 60 firefighters were called to a fire at a recycling centre on Johnson Street in Southall on Sunday (11 January 2026) evening.

Around 15 tonnes of mixed recycling was alight with crews from Southall, Hayes, Feltham and nearby stations called out to tackle the blaze. The London Fire Brigade said it received the first call at 5.33pm and had the fire under control by 8.35pm.

Smoke from the site travelled towards the Great Western Main Line, leading to a partial closure of the route as a precaution while firefighters worked at the scene.

The cause of the fire has not been established. No injuries were reported.
