Match report: Walton & Hersham 5 v Hanwell Town 0

Hanwell Town will be spending Christmas in the relegation zone after suffering a heavy defeat at big spending Walton & Hersham on Saturday (20 December 2025).

The league leaders raced into a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from Aris Nuur, Dawid Rogalski, Mason Obeng. They then added two more in the final 10 minutes after Rogalski’s penalty and Obeng’s finish after pouncing on the loose ball.

Hanwell’s trip to north Surrey was always looking difficult as the Swans had only lost one game all season. What would give the Geordies hope was that defeat came in the reverse fixture in August.

However, five minutes in, Chris Moore’s side found themselves behind after a sensational long-range effort from Nuur that dipped underneath the crossbar.

It was 2-0 10 minutes later as the Geordies failed to clear their lines and Rogalski found space to rifle the ball home and, just before the half hour mark, Obeng found the net direct from a corner with Hanwell keeper Sam Beasant appearing to be impeded as he went for the ball.

Moore made one change at half-time with Naheer Nawaf coming on for his debut and the former Marlow man looked sharp making some good runs but the home defence held firm.

With 11 minutes left, Harry Seabrook, making his return to the side after a head injury, was penalised in the penalty area. Rogalski stepped up and fired the ball past Beasant to make it 4-0.

Obeng made it 5-0 with two minutes remaining but, as a crumb of comfort for the Geordies fans, the finish came at the third attempt after Hanwell put their bodies on the line to try and keep the ball out of the goal.

They will have to display that courage again when they take on neighbours Uxbridge FC on Saturday 27 December (3pm kick off).
