Strike action to hit North Acton to Hammersmith 218 bus route

Bus services on route 218, which runs from North Acton to Hammersmith, are set to be disrupted this month after staff at London Transit announced fresh strike action in the run-up to Christmas.

More than 350 drivers, engineers and stores workers based at the operator’s Westbourne Park depot will walk out on 15, 22, 23 and 24 December after rejecting the company’s latest pay offer, the union Unite said. Workers also staged a strike yesterday (12 December 2025).

The dispute follows stoppages earlier this autumn. Unite said the latest proposal included a lower-paid starter grade for drivers, which it claims would undermine pay and conditions across the workforce.

Unite’s general secretary, Sharon Graham, said: “This is appalling behaviour from a company that makes millions from London bus passengers. It shows an utter disregard for its workers and the hard work they do, day in, day out.”

Callum Rochford, a Unite regional officer, said: “Our members do an incredibly difficult job, whether it’s driving buses in rush hour in London or keeping those buses operational. Yet their employer is trying to short-change them with new grades.”

Alongside the 218, Unite said routes 13, 23, 31, N31, 295 and 452 are also expected to be affected. London Transit was approached for comment. Passengers have been advised to check service updates and allow extra time for journeys.
