Residents invited to shape local plans

Residents across Acton, Ealing, Greenford, Hanwell, Northolt, Perivale and Southall are being invited to help shape the future of their towns, as Ealing Council launches a new funding programme giving local people the opportunity to decide how money is spent in their areas.

The Your Voice, Your Town initiative invites individuals, schools and community groups to apply for grants to support projects that make a difference in their local areas. The council said the scheme aims to involve residents more closely in decisions about where they live and how their towns develop.

Each of the borough’s seven towns has been given its own fund based on population size: Acton – £80,000; Ealing – £120,000; Greenford – £60,000; Hanwell – £40,000; Northolt – £40,000; Perivale – £20,000; and Southall – £120,000.

Earlier this year, residents across the borough voted for their top priorities for change. Most towns — including Acton, Greenford, Northolt, Perivale and Southall — chose creating “clean and pleasant areas” as their main goal, while Ealing and Hanwell identified “feeling safe” as their top concern.

Applications can be made online by anyone with an idea that benefits the wider community — from cleaning up streets and improving green spaces to creating safer public areas or supporting local events.

The application window for Acton closed on 30 November, but submissions remain open for other towns: Northolt – 18 December 2025; Perivale – 18 December 2025; Greenford – 31 December 2025; Hanwell – 6 January 2026; and Ealing – 8 January 2026. Southall’s town team is still developing its plans, with more information expected in the coming weeks.

Each town’s fund will be overseen by a “town team” made up of residents, businesses, faith leaders, community organisations and councillors. These teams will review applications and decide which projects to fund, in what the council describes as a community-led approach to local development.

Councillor Blerina Hashani, cabinet member for thriving communities, said: “Thank you to all the town teams for the time, energy and care you’ve put into shaping this fund. This is a community-led initiative, and it’s inspiring to see local people leading the way to make their towns better places to live. We’re proud to support this process and look forward to seeing the ideas that come forward to help turn priorities into action.”
