Royal Albert Hall to come alive to the sound of Ealing

More than 1,400 schoolchildren from across Ealing will take to the stage at the Royal Albert Hall in South Kensington on 24 June 2025 for a  celebration of music, talent and community spirit.

Billed as Ealing Together – Harmony in Diversity, the concert is a collaboration between Ealing Music Service (EMS) and the Ealing Symphony Orchestra (ESO). A host of youth groups, including the Ealing Youth Orchestra and Ealing Youth Jazz Orchestra will perform alongside the fifty-strong ESO.

A children’s choir from more than 40 schools across the borough will see 1,200 students filling the iconic venue with song.

The centrepiece of the evening will be the world premiere of Ada in Ealing, a new work by local composer Laura Rossi. Commissioned to celebrate ESO’s centenary, it features a libretto by children’s author and Questors Theatre alumnus Michael Rosen.

Chair of ESO, Jo Boswell, said: “We wanted to plan something really special to mark the centenary of the ESO in 2022, but we were struggling to see these plans to fruition in the wake of the pandemic. This partnership with EMS enables us to realise our dream of seeing the orchestra perform at the Royal Albert Hall; but more importantly we think it will cement a much closer collaboration in the future across the different music groups in Ealing.”

The programme also includes works by homegrown composers Hannah Kendall and Liz Sharma, plus classics including O Fortuna from Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana and Adiemus by Karl Jenkins.

Leader of Ealing Council, Councillor Peter Mason, said: “More than a thousand children from across Ealing will take to one of the world’s most iconic stages – showing the power of music to unite, inspire and celebrate the incredible talent we have right here in our borough. It’s a proud moment for Ealing, and a sign of what we can achieve when we work together.”

Tickets for the performance can be booked here.
