Hanwell Town have drawn National League side Eastleigh in the third round of the Isuzu FA Trophy.
The Geordies have earned their place in the third round with wins over Berkhamsted, Hendon, and Folkestone.
In the third qualifying round, Chris Moore’s side relied on Sam Beasant’s penalty heroics to get them through after a 1-1 draw with Berkhamsted. This came after Jordan Edwards’ early goal was ruled out by Roger James’ second half strike.
Alfie Pendlebury was the star of the first round for Hanwell with his hat-trick leading the Geordies to a 5-0 over Hendon. Dwayne Duncan and Nathan Boayke also scored during a celebratory afternoon at The Powerday Stadium.
Last weekend, Hanwell advanced to the third round of the FA Trophy for the first time in their history with a 2-0 win over Folkestone Invicta. Pendlebury was again the hero, opening the scoring with a powerful header. In the final minute, Mat Mackenzie capitalised on a defensive error to seal the win.
Eastleigh are currently 12th in the National League and have been in England’s fifth tier for the last decade.
The Spitfires have averaged an attendance of 2,107 this season so should bring a vocal travelling party with them to The Powerday Stadium.
The National League side have been in poor form of late, not winning since a 4-2 triumph over Rochdale on September 21.
In contrast, Hanwell are in great form. The Geordies are unbeaten in their last five games. This run has included three cup games against Hendon, Enfield Town, and Folkestone.
The tie will take place on the weekend of 7 December 2024. This means the Geordies away trip to Plymouth Parkway will be rearranged to an alternative date.
