Property developer Tide Construction is to build 412 new student homes after getting planning permission for a new development on 42 Hastings Road and 50-54 Drayton Green Road, West Ealing.
Located opposite West Ealing station, the two locations were previously used by Majestic Wines and a restaurant. An earlier planning application by Tide saw the developer wanting to construct a 21-storey building which resulted in 1087 objections out of 1098 responses in a public consultation.
Tide said it made a number of changes to its proposal which gained approval. The developer revealed: “Since we submitted our planning application, we have engaged with Ealing Council officers and made changes to the scheme based on local feedback.”
Among these changes include reducing the maximum height to 16 storeys, increasing amenity space per student, integrate better locally and reduce the number of student rooms to 412.

The new 412 student homes will be located within a 16-storey and 13-storey development.
Helen McManus, head of planning at Tide said: “We look forward to breaking ground on Hastings Road and contributing to West Ealing’s vibrant urban fabric. This exciting project marks a significant new addition to Tide’s portfolio of student accommodation projects, and we would like to thank everyone involved in this process.”
Ms McManus added: “Our proposal seeks to be an exemplar of student development, with high-quality living conditions and generous internal and external amenity space.”
