Hanwell Town put the finishing touches to their pre-season preparations in perfect fashion on Wednesday evening (5 August 2026), with a 5-1 victory over Brentford Under-19s.
Capitalising on all the greater experience and clear physical advantage they possessed over their younger opponents, the Geordies raced to a 3-0 lead after just 10 minutes.
Starting a theme that continued throughout the first half, Hanwell’s first goal came from a corner as Eddie Cooper finished with a lovely loopy header.
George Knight then poked home from another set piece, before Zak Joseph converted a well-worked Hanwell move by expertly rounding the keeper and coolly finding the back of the net.
Just after the half hour mark, Knight then secured his second goal of the evening from yet another corner to make it 4-0 at the break.
Despite a rogue sprinkler’s best efforts to bring proceedings to a halt at The Oliver Connell & Son Community Stadium, Brentford pulled one back in the 62nd minute once normal service had resumed.
But it proved to be a mere consolation as on 86 minutes, Harvey Bradbury tied proceedings up and completed a resounding 5-1 victory for the Geordies.
