Fresh off a staggering 92-0 win against Ampthill (19 October 2024), Ealing Trailfinders are set to face Saracens at Vallis Way on Saturday (2 November 2024) to kick off the Premiership Cup.
The two London-based teams will go head-to-head in a highly anticipated battle.
Ealing last faced Saracens in the 2021 Championship final, a two-game play-off, the first game at Trailfinders Sports Club decimating Ealing with a 0-60 loss.
Saracens added to their victory, winning 57-15 in the second game, gaining promotion back into the Premiership, where they have since remained, and subsequently won in 2022-23.
Both teams have had a similar start to their respective seasons, Ealing winning four out of the five games played so far and Saracens four out of six. Ealing’s loss came after a tense game against Doncaster Knights, losing 35-36.
Ealing Trailfinders currently sit second on the RFU Championship table, two points behind Coventry, whilst Saracens are fourth on the Premiership table.
Saracens’ losses of the season thus far have come from a tight game against Leicester Tigers, and after a tense match against major London rival, Harlequins, who Trailfinders will face at the Twickenham Stoop on 8 November 2024, and later on in the Cup at Vallis Way in February 2025.
Trailfinders saw major success during last year’s Premiership Rugby Cup, beating Bristol Bears and last year’s Premiership winners, Northampton Saints to make it into the semi-finals.
They then faced Leicester Tigers in a difficult fight for a place in the final, heartbreakingly ending their Cup dreams, losing 21-29. Now in their second chance at the Premiership Cup, we can only assume that Ealing are hungrier than ever for the win.
We need to get behind our local club and support their effort.
