Why I’m standing: Francesco Fruzza, Ealing Liberal Democrats, Ealing Broadway

On 7 May 2026, residents in the Ealing Broadway ward will vote to choose who represents them at Ealing Council.

EALING.NEWS has asked all candidates standing to become a councillor, 7 questions about who they are, what they hope to deliver and why they want residents to vote for them.

Here’s what Francesco Fruzza, standing for Ealing Liberal Democrats in Ealing Broadway, has to say:

Tell us a bit about yourself, your priorities for the ward and why you want to be councillor for Ealing Broadway?
I was born at home in Gordon Road and lived all my life in Ealing, my children went to my primary school (St Gregory’s) where I have stood in for Santa for 30 years, I was married in Ealing Abbey, my roots are deep Ealing roots. I want to ensure the residents of Ealing feel safe and ensure Ealing continues to be the Queen of the suburbs, clean and green.

What motivates you?
I am motivated by people, by being positive in all my interactions and by shaping change in life.

What is your own personal connection to either Ealing Broadway or any other part of the borough?
My life and my family and the roots I have from a lifetime spent here; I love Ealing.

What do you consider to be your 3 top political, work or personal achievements and what impact have they had?
1. Reducing crime and the fear of crime, ensuring more is done to reduce Burglary, increase police patrols and encourage residents to sign up to Met engage to help report more incidents and gather intelligence.
2. Tackling fly tipping and improving street cleaning. Open Acton recycling centre and look at ways to make it easier for people deal with their large unwanted waste. Improve the frequency of street cleaning.
3. Planning – ensure we have a local plan that is adhered to and have more mansion type builds rather that high rise blocks, and ensure the voice of the residents is reflected in the local plan.

What do you consider to be the top 3 challenges Walpole faces and how will you as a councillor address them?

What do you love about Ealing Broadway and the borough of Ealing?
I love Haven Green as it is the first thing you see as you get out of Ealing Broadway tube and I know I am home and The Liz line that connects Ealing in a new way.

How accessible will you be to Walpole residents and how can they get in contact with you now and if elected how will you ensure you are accessible to them in the future?
I would hold regular surgeries and have my councillor email that resident could contact me, communication with resident is the foundation to a better council
