Why I’m standing: Debbie Allen, Ealing Community Independents, Perivale

On 7 May 2026, residents in the Perivale ward will vote to choose who represents them at Ealing Council.

EALING.NEWS has asked all candidates standing to become a councillor, 7 questions about who they are, what they hope to deliver and why they want residents to vote for them.

Here’s what Debbie Allen, standing for Ealing Community Independents in Perivale has to say:

Tell us a bit about yourself, your priorities for the ward and why you want to be councillor for Perivale?
I am a committed community advocate, recognised at council level as a Community Champion, and have supported families and residents for many years. As recently as 9 April 2026, I assisted a fellow neighbour by connecting them directly with their councillor and MP to resolve an ongoing issue.

My priorities are safety for women, children and vulnerable residents, stronger community support, and ensuring residents are heard.

I stood in the last election and was narrowly pipped at the post. I am standing again because it reflects my commitment, resilience and determination to serve our community.

What motivates you?
I am motivated by tackling injustice and creating real change in people’s lives. Supporting residents, resolving issues and strengthening our community drives everything I do.

What is your personal connection to the ward or borough?
Having lived in Perivale for over 25 years so I already have deep roots in the borough through being a resident and active citizen: my community work – supporting families, organising events and working closely with residents across Ealing. My connection is built on trust, service and long-standing involvement.

What do you consider to be your 3 top political, work or personal achievements and what impact have they had?
1. Delivering over 800 Storytime & Crafts sessions, supporting children’s development and community wellbeing
2. Founder of Hearts in the Community CIC, leading initiatives such as food banks, litter picks and clothes swaps
3. Windrush campaigning and community advocacy, amplifying voices and supporting residents facing injustice.

These have strengthened community cohesion, supported vulnerable residents and created lasting local impact.

What do you consider to be the top 3 challenges Perivale faces and how will you as a councillor address them?
1. Safety – I will continue to push for improved street lighting, CCTV, regular street cleaning, enforcement against fly-tipping, and permanent Safer Neighbourhood patrols – not just when elections are approaching.
2. Cost of living pressures – expand community-led support such as food banks and resource-sharing initiatives
3. Residents feeling unheard – actively engage, respond promptly and represent residents at council and police meetings

What do you love about the ward and Ealing?
I love the diversity, strong community spirit and how people come together to support one another. Ealing is vibrant, culturally rich and community-driven.

How accessible will you be to Perivale residents and how can they get in contact with you now and if elected how will you ensure you are accessible to them in the future?
I am already accessible and actively supporting residents. People contact me through social media, community networks, and locally in places like our cafés and other community spaces. If elected, I will hold regular surgeries, attend local meetings, and remain visible, approachable and responsive at all times.
