A year 10 student from Southall’s Featherstone High School with help from other students opened a pop up food bank at Featherstone Sports Centre in time for Christmas.
The initiative from Mohammed Asraf to help local people saw the food bank operate on 23 December 2024.
Mohammed was supported by his head of year, Ms Nixon alongside Featherstone Sports Centre staff Juma Abdullahi and Dee Bharj and his sister Kathija.
Mohammed said: “To all the teachers at FHS and the students who have supported me and contributed towards my food bank collection, I would like to say a huge thank you. I am overwhelmed by all the support and guidance I have had from you all, I could not have done this without you”.
According to the school, Mohammed has plans for further initiatives in 2025 to help more people.
Featherstone headteacher Nathan Walters said: “To be so kind and thoughtful at this young age, Mohammed is a credit to his family and his school. He really is proof that Christmas can still be a time for giving.”
