A new Post Office has opened on Acton High Street, restoring postal services to the town centre after seven years without a dedicated branch.
Located inside Chatime at 96 High Street, W3 6QX, the branch officially opened on Tuesday (29 July 2025) and will operate seven days a week, offering 75 hours of service.
The reopening follows the closure of the former Crown Post Office in 2018 and a short-lived replacement at Budgens on Gunnersbury Lane in 2021. Since then, local residents and councillors have campaigned for a permanent facility to serve the community.
In 2024, the Post Office advertised for someone to run a Post Office Local franchise on Acton High Street. Applicants had until 24 July 2024 to apply.
The new branch is part of the Post Office’s “local” style network, designed to integrate into existing retail spaces. It offers a full range of services including bill payments, cash withdrawals, postage, and collection and return of online shopping. Customers of all major UK banks can access their accounts from the branch. It also complements a Post Office-run banking hub at The Oaks shopping centre which was opened in 2023.
Services are available Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm, Saturday from 9am to 6pm, and Sunday from 11am to 5pm. The extended hours aim to improve convenience, particularly for those balancing work and family commitments.
Mohammed Islam, Post Office area change manager, said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for customers to pay their bills, withdraw cash from their bank accounts, and send and collect their mail at a time and place that suits them best.”
Mr Islam added: “We know how important our services are to customers, and we are confident that this brand-new Post Office will ensure that people in this area of Acton have easy access to our services.”
