Ealing Council has launched an open call for artists, illustrators and graphic designers to create a new series of public artworks celebrating the borough’s film and television industries.
The commissioned artist will produce a minimum of six original designs inspired by iconic film posters, to be displayed across the borough and used to promote Ealing’s screen industry as part of a wider campaign to launch a new name and identity for the local production cluster.
Among films and TV shows made recently in the borough include Star Wars 2: Attack of the Clones, Notting Hill, The Crown and Downton Abbey.
In announcing the open call, Ealing Council said: “We are looking to highlight the range of companies across the borough – and their roles in film production – from the studios to the riggers, prop houses and lighting techs.
“By celebrating all the elements that make productions possible, we intend to make these sometimes invisible parts of the industry visible whilst demonstrating why Ealing continues to be a prime production location within the UK’s screen industry. This is part of a campaign to launch and celebrate a new name and identity for Ealing’s screen industry cluster.”
The commission offers an artist fee of £12,000 excluding VAT, with the possibility of an expanded scope. The fee covers research and concept development, design of the artwork series, delivery of final digital files in multiple formats, and involvement in agreed press and marketing activity. Production, printing and installation costs will be managed separately.
The council added: “This is your opportunity to explore the visual language of cinema and TV, in a way that is bold, playful and accessible, to be enjoyed by the local community and visitors to Ealing. We hope that the finished work will shine a light on the hidden stories and talents that make up Ealing’s thriving and diverse Screen Industry.
Expressions of interest must be emailed to opencall@loomprojects.co.uk by 12pm on Friday 23 January 2026.
